Tax Bill Dates | The tax year is from April 1 to March 31. The first tax bill of the year is for April 1 to September 30; the second is for October 1 to March 31. |
Payments | Tax bills are due in two installments: July 1 and December 1 (or 30 days after the date of the bill, whichever is later). If a due date falls on a weekend, payment is due the following Monday. The tax office is open on the day the payments are due; open hours will be printed on your tax bill. |
Dropbox Locations | Two dropboxes are available for drop-off payments: One is on the outside of the Town Offices; the other is inside, to the right of the Town Clerk’s window. |
Tax Calculation | The July bill is an estimated bill and is equal to half of the prior year’s total bill. The December bill—which is issued after the tax rate for the current year is set in the fall—is for the balance. |
Exemptions/ Credits | If you are elderly, disabled, blind, a veteran or veteran’s spouse, you may be eligible for a tax exemption or credit. For details and application information, contact the Select Board office at (603) 675-5611 or TownBos@Comcast.net. |
Abatements/ Deferrals | A taxpayer who is unable to pay taxes (due to poverty or another reason) may apply in writing to the Select Board office for a tax abatement or deferral. |
